Yes,
the orange-red flowers are gaudy, the plants are huge (10' to 12' high
and wide) and motorists exceeding the speed limit in your neighorhood will
be distracted, sending mailboxes and trash cans flying, but my testosterone-poisoned
brain still likes it. Comapanion plants include: Esperanza
(Tecoma stans), Hybrid Coral Bean (Erythrina X bidwillii),
orange-red Lantana, yellow Lantana, Mohintle (Justicia spicigera)
and Cannas with orange and red blooms. Grows in full sun. Looks
best if given a deep watering every two weeks during a dry summer, but
can survive with no supplemental irrigation.
