One
of the most drought-tolerant hummingbird plants. Can grow in rocky,
sandy or clay soils. Its 4' to 6' high spikes of red flowers emerge
in spring, just as the Bluebonnets are fading. Grows in full sun
to half-day sun, in a location with good drainage. Requires no supplemental
irrigation once established.
