An
extraordinary perennial for full sun which blooms from late April until
the first freeze. Once established, it requires no supplemental irrigation.
It is the best natural hummingbird feeder for central & south Texas.
Can grow to 12 feet high and wide if never pruned in irrigated landscapes.
Our 14-year-old specimen in Baja Leon Springs, which is never given supplemental
irrigation, is 5' high by 8' wide by mid-summer. It is also not browsed
by the numerous Axis Deer and native Deer in the area.
(Feed with 3 Agriform
21-gram,
2-year fertilizer tablets at the bottom of the hole at planting time.) |
