Ferdinand
Lindheimer, an early resident of the German colony of New Braunfels, was
a prolific botanical explorer. Consequently, several species bear
his name. This Texas prairie native is widely grown throughout the
warmer parts of the lower 48 as well as in Europe. Grows in full
sun to all afternoon sun (just morning sun is not enough). Looks
best if given a deep watering every two weeks during a dry summer, but
can survive with no supplemental irrigation.
