Most
places sell only the 'Katie' Ruellia, with purple flowers. Dwarf
Mexican Petunias are also available in white and pink flowered forms.
I've grown all three of the forms listed on this page near Leon Springs
for several years, where both native and Axis deer abound, and have never
had them eaten (or even tasted). Spreads by seeds flung by the ripe
capsules, plant it where this will not be a problem. Grows in full
sun to half-day sun. Looks best if given a deep watering every two weeks
during a dry summer.
