A
robust hybrid much like Cherry Sage, Salvia greggii. It differs
in flower color and most clones usually have the aromatic and resinous
leaves of S. muelleri. Hybrid vigor allows it to grow
to 3' high and wide. It looks best if grown
in full sun, but will still provide some blooms in half-day sun.
Probable cultivars and forms in cultivation are named: 'Burgundy', 'Dark
Dancer' & 'Diane'. Looks best if given a deep watering every
two weeks during a dry summer.
