As a member of the Citrus
Family, this 3' to 5' shrub is deer-proof due to the bitter nature of its
evergreen leaves. And, if its affiliation inspires thought of edibility,
forget it. The fruit is a small, dark drupe, quite unlike an
orange or a lime. These are propagated from a population at the northern-most
habitat of the species, near the Texas coast. Grows in full sun to
half-day sun. Looks best if given a deep watering every two weeks
during a dry summer.
(Feed with 1 to 2 Agriform
21-gram,
2-year fertilizer tablets at the bottom of the hole at planting time.)
