A
chimera is a plant with a split personality, much like two individuals
sharing one body. The green leaves may or may not be streaked with
maroon-red zones (the photo at left shows an extreme example). The
flowers, usually yellow with an archipelago of red spots, may or may not
bear zones of all red. Thus, an established clump can seem to consist
of several different clones. A beautiful and very unusual selection.
Grows 5' to 6' tall in full sun. Looks best if given a deep watering
every two weeks during a dry summer.
(Feed with 3 to 5 Agriform
21-gram,
2-year fertilizer tablets at the bottom of the hole at planting time.) |
