If
the name bedevils you, take heart. Etymologically, 'lucifer'
means, 'one who carries the light'. The floral parts are a torch
of blood red with golden edges. A compact selection, usually less
than 3' high. Grows in full sun. Looks best if given a deep
watering every two weeks during a dry summer.
