These stately cannas
have dark red, narrow-petalled flowers for hummingbirds to fight over.
Grown from seed collected in Costa Rica from plants over 10 feet tall.
Individual plants show some variation in leaf tint and markings.
Performs best if each stalk is cut to the ground and discarded as soon
as its last flowers fade. Grows in full sun.
Looks best if given a deep watering every two weeks during a dry summer.
(Feed with 3 to 5 Agriform
21-gram,
2-year fertilizer tablets at the bottom of the hole at planting time.) |
